Raina, Queen of the Wood
$95.00 Sold Out
Meet Raina, a blossom bearer with a regal disposition.
Blossom Bearer Dolls are a celebration of beauty and texture.
Each one has a wool torso that has been hand-embroidered with wool tapestry thread in a freestyle bouquet design. It is then weighted with glass and poly beads in a separate sewn pouch, and stuffed with 100% clean carded Canadian wool.
Raina's long willowy arms are made from liberty of london cotton, and can be posed in an embrace or at her sides. Her body and legs are made from re-purposed wool blankets, her little shawl is a delicate cotton vintage crochet doily, and her skirt is made from a truly breathtaking heirloom embroidered pillowcase, a piece I've been saving for just the right doll. Her crown is made from cotton trim and repurposed genuine leather. (Any leather I use is cut from leather clothing I buy at thrift stores for this purpose.) It has a bit of shimmer to it, too!
When you purchase this doll, you will receive a card with her that reads:
“This is a Blossom Bearer, a one-of-a-kind doll embellished and embroidered by hand. These dolls are quiet guardians of the human spirit. Their closed eyes, long willowy limbs and simple bouquet offerings are little reminders to listen carefully, love unconditionally, and give abundantly. Whether you've adopted a Blossom Bearer doll for yourself or received her from a loved one, I hope she adds beauty to your home and joy to your soul.”
These dolls measure 18 inches in length from head to toe, but their torsos are only about ten inches, so they can sit comfortably on most shelves and mantles. All Maryke dolls are suitable for gentle play by children (or grown ups) older than 3 years. They make lovely décor pieces as well. Of course, one is never too old to love and appreciate a handmade doll!
